To find the hardness of bamboo flooring, our Strand Woven Commercial Grade flooring has been tested on the Modified Janka Hardness Test.
Hardwood vs Bamboo Flooring |
At 4570 pounds force, for our Gold Strand Woven Bamboo Flooring Hardness, and 4509 for our Coffee Strand Woven Bamboo Flooring Hardness, these exceed nearly all other flooring durability:
Mahogany (800), Red Oak (1643), Hickory (1812),
Pecan (1820), Ipe (2168), Brazilian Redwood (2689),
Ebony (3220), Curupy (3880)
Combined with UV-cured Aluminum Oxide fortified Poly-urethane, this is the best style of flooring for maximizing bamboo flooring durability.
|
 |
The key advantage to an Aluminum Oxide finish is abrasion resistance, and for commercial applications we warranty our product against wear-through for three years of constant commercial use and give a Lifetime Warranty in residential applications.
For certain applications, a scratch resistant coating in addition to an abrasion resistant coating may be advisable.
|
Please also be reminded that Strand Woven bamboo flooring is different than horizontal or vertical bamboo flooring.
Horizontal bamboo flooring hardness is 1712 and vertical bamboo
flooring hardness is 1999. These are similar to the hardness
of Red Oak, and of course can be more or less depending on the sample.
